A Wigwam for a Goose's Bridle

heavy crimson liquid
coats my throat
brings me no relief
I would have accepted
pleasure or paralysis
instead
the pit deepens
and I sit
in the dark
wondering
if the rising salt water
will rinse away
any of the pain
