I couldn’t put this down. Devoured it in 3 days around work and the kids.
I received this as an ARC via NetGalley (thanks) and admittedly didn’t realise when I signed up to read it that it is the second book in a series, so I came to it without the background knowledge the first book would have provided. That said, it read well as a stand-alone novel and I think I got up to speed on important characters and events pretty quickly.
Lexi Winter is basically the Australian female answer to Jack Reacher. In this book she is now a probationary constable, but she’s still a bit of a loose cannon vigilante who struggles with the rules. There were a few times I wanted to shake her, but she’s still very likeable. The worst thing about this book was the cliffhanger. Now I’m going to have to wait for the next one!
