Sally Hepworth has done it again!
In her latest offering, sisters Tully and Rachel meet their dad’s new fiancée. But she’s younger than them, and Dad is still married to Mum, who has dementia. For this family, image is everything, but all of their secrets will come to light and the carefully constructed façade will crack. Tully is a kleptomaniac. Why does Rachel have binge eating disorder and refuse to date? Is Heather (the eponymous younger wife) as perfect as she seems? Is the respected heart doctor truly a hero? How much does the lady with dementia still remember, and why did she hide almost $100000 in a hot water bottle?
As always, Sally’s writing is easy to read. She makes every character somehow relatable (even if you’ve never had the urge to steal).
4.99 stars for me. It lost 0.01 because I still think The Good Sister is her best book.
