Her Last Duchess by Gabrielle Kimm took me only three days. Upon reading the title one day, I knew immediately it must be related to the Browning poem of a similar name (replace His with My) which I studied in high school. Kimm has done a wonderful job of weaving the historical facts, Browning’s interpretation and her own poetic licence into a story that is impossible to put down. It is complete with a twist that I expected, yet couldn’t for the life of me work out how it could be possible. This is not a proper book review, as I won’t waste time on an outline of the book (find it, and read the blurb) and I definitely won’t spoil the story – I just want to tell you I think it’s worth reading!
